Q: Where is your hometown and where are you located now?
A: Hanover, Ont., is my hometown. I’m now living in Peachland, B.C.
Q: What program did you take at OC? When did you graduate?
A: Sustainable Building Technology Diploma (formerly known as Sustainable Construction Management Technology Diploma). I graduated in 2019 from the Penticton Campus.
Q: What is your current position?
A: Owner, C Logie Consulting Inc. and Sales and Design, Canadian Aerothermal
Q: Why did you choose your program at OC? How does it relate to what you’re doing now?
A: I had previously left a career with the Ontario Justice Division and felt drawn to a program where I could become a steward for environmental practices within the built environment yet having the opportunity to start my own business. Watching my dad design and build energy efficient homes growing up, instilled a love for quality workmanship and social community. I currently help clients design their projects to achieve indoor air quality and lowest operating costs while promoting an integrated design process within construction teams.
Q: What was one of your most meaningful memories during your time at OC?
A: I have so many to mention but the one that stands out is when I sat down to write the Statics and Strength of Materials exam and being overwhelmed at having the opportunity to learn the material while having such a strong group of students and professors with me.
Q: What do you think has been the biggest turning point for your career success?
A: Being recognized by local high-performance builders as the consultant to come to for designing their HVAC systems in new construction projects.
Q: Are there any awards, achievements or activities that you would like to highlight?
A: Having the opportunity to work with Brendon Gray at Egnite Sustainability and Canadian Aerothermal HVAC Contractors. Also, having the opportunity to work with BC Hydro on heat pump pilot projects.
Q: What advice would you pass on to current/future students?
A: Embrace the moment and take the time to recognize what your passions are, then go get it.
Q: When you’re not working, what are you doing?
A: Anything outdoors, preferably Nordic skiing at Telemark Nordic Club.
