Dental Office Administrative Assistant

A comprehensive introduction to the skills necessary to effectively work as a dental office administrative assistant. Students receive an overview of front desk skills, an introduction to dentistry and routine dental procedures, and learn maintenance of patient records, insurance forms, appointment control, and record keeping within a computerized environment. Emphasis is on effective oral and written communication, and professionalism in the dental office.

Program details

This 120-hour program is an introduction to the basic skills necessary for employment as a dental office administrative assistant, including front-desk skills. Students will receive an introduction to dentistry and routine dental procedures, and learn maintenance of patient records, insurance forms, appointment control, and record keeping within a computerized environment. Emphasis is on effective oral and written communication and professionalism in the dental office.

  • Course books are supplied in an electronic format online.
  • You will need a computer or laptop with a camera, microphone and speakers.
  • мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ college uses the Dentrix system.  

Part-time. Mon, Wed and Thurs evenings. No face-to-face classes required. Applicants from all regions welcome. This program is entirely online. There will be a mixture of recorded lectures and live lectures with the instructor. Students will be expected to find a dental office to do a minimum of 20 observation hours.

Admission requirements

  • BC Secondary school graduation or equivalent, or 19 years of age and out of secondary school for at least one year as of the first day of classes.

Program outline

Complete All of the following:
DAA 100 - Communication Skills
DAA 101 - Introduction to Dentistry
DAA 102 - Dental Office Procedures and Computers

Students must pass each course with a minimum grade of 60% to receive a certificate.
